Tricky Escapes: The Magic Of Locks, Keys, And Safes

Good day. I'm Joe Seymour and I work part-time as a magician. Recently, I've had to learn a few new tricks because, quite frankly, people aren't impressed with disappearing coins anymore. My new repertoire involves various tricks that use locks, keys, and safes as props. I've actually become quite fixated on all the different types I've found and how they work. My best trick these days is getting an audience member to put money in a safe and lock it with their own combination. Even in a digital world, people love seeing how quickly I can "crack the code". My newfound fascination with locks, keys, and safes has led me to seek out others who have a little know-how in this area. Hopefully, you'll enjoy my blog and my research will help me to gain ideas for new tricks. Just turn the key and step on in.

Protecting Your Business With A Safe: Which One Should You Choose?

As a business owner, protecting some of the most significant documents of your company should be at the top of your priority list. In this regard, safes will come in handy. You will want to invest in high-security safes for your business's documents. There are multiple options available for safes. That means before you make the decision to invest in one, it would be imperative to think critically about a few things first. This guide will help you choose the most ideal safe for your business.

Think About the Items You Intend to Protect

You will need a bigger safe to store electronics than you would for cash or financial statements and other business documents. However, businesses are constantly growing, which means you need to consider the future when selecting a safe. As a general rule of the thumb, always consider the next size up when choosing a safe. The extra space will come in handy later on.

The kind of items you want to store will also help you select the right type of safe. For instance, if you would like to keep certain documents safe in case of a fire, a fire-rated safe would be the ideal choice. For computer media including backups, a media safe would be the most practical choice. In some cases where you only need a safe for your car keys, jewellery, or even petty cash, a simple secure container would suffice.

However, if you intend to keep quite a lot of money in the safe, consider the insurance rating of the safe. This will tell you the maximum amount of cash the design of the safe can hold. Keep in mind that this alone may not guarantee the safety of your cash. Always make sure the safe is installed perfectly.

Consider the Locking Mechanism

Key locks, mechanical locks, and digital locks are the major types of safe locking mechanisms. A key locking safe is the easiest to use and most cost-effective. However, it may not offer the best security because of the possibility of losing your keys. A mechanical lock uses a combination code. It's the most common and offers high-level security but may not be ideal for you if you tend to forget passcodes.

For the best level of security, convenience, and ease of use, consider a digital or electronic lock. However, for your business, a combination of a key and mechanical lock may be the best. That's because, during the day when the staff needs to access the safe, they can use the key. At the end of the business day, you can simply spin off the combination and lock out the key so no one else can access the safe.

A locksmith can help you choose the best locking mechanism for your security needs or help you get back into your safe if you've been locked out.
